A3. IMMERSIVE
The user wants an immersive experience
Description

Designing immersively is a way of adding more layers and aspects to an interaction or environment, thus providing a realistic and engaging experience to remember. Immersive technology can be utilized in various ways, for example by creating products in virtual reality when there is not enough space for physical products in the showroom. Immersive technology can also be used to emphasize different senses to further enhance the user experience.
This guideline accommodates for an immersive showroom experience that utilizes novel technology and the different senses to create an enhanced anticipatory experience.
Guidelines

Design for the five senses
-
A simple way to make an experience more immersive is designing for the five senses touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste. Combining a few of these, for instance both touch, sight and hearing will lead to a stronger experience that leaves a deeper impression.
Utilize mixed reality to add layers to the interactions
-
To give reality a shiny edge and to give customers a more immersive showroom experience, mixed reality can be used to enhance interactions, technology and product displays.
Concretize digital content using physical tangibles
-
It will be easier for visitors to understand products that have been digitally displayed on for instance the brand website or on interactive surfaces in a showroom if physical tangibles are available to touch and see. This is a good way to link the digital and the physical.

Design for the four zones of interaction
-
Interactions can take place within the four zones Intimate, Personal, Social and Public that are based on the distance between two people or a person and a device. What interactions are possible within these zones are preferably adapted to suit the specific environment and can be triggered by distance to create a dynamic and interactive setting for one or several people. Implementing sensors is a common way of accommodating for the different zones.
