B3. CUSTOMISE

The user wants to personalise offered products
This guideline accommodates for users to modify a product in a way that suits their preferences both functionally and visually.
Description

Everyone’s taste and preferences differ and it is therefore very difficult to offer one single product that suits all potential customers. When possible, it is thus very helpful to offer alternatives that can be personalised after the customers’ wishes. Most people value personalized products highly, are willing to wait longer for such a product or service and tend to be more pleased with their purchase.

Guidelines

Allow altering of exterior and interior design

  • The aesthetics of a car is what many people value the most, together with cost and prestanda. Because of this, most people will not buy a car they do not find good-looking.

Display customisations in real life settings

  • This will help the showroom visitor to grasp what the vehicle will look like in real life. Allowing them to change the setting to something familiar also helps them visualize the product being used in their own life.

Let the customers know they made a nice choice

  • It is in the human nature to seek confirmation and we all want to hear we have made a good decision. In this aspects, it is common for sales representatives to encourage visitors by complimenting them on a nice configuration they have made, resulting in the visitor feeling pleased and becoming more likely to commit to a purchase.
